Course Description
Designed for beginners or those with little experience this 16 week evening course (32 hours) is for learners who want to gain an
understanding of Sound Engineering and Production. Whether you want to transform your amateur home recording sessions into
professional sounding productions or begin a career as a Sound Engineer, the Sound Engineering course can help you achieve your
goals. This course covers all the basic operational skills required for work in recording studios and live sound through extensive hands-on training. It gives a thorough introduction to the technical, creative and practical elements of sound engineering and music production.
Minimum Entry Requirements
Junior Cert. or equivalent and/or relevant life and work experience.
Certification
FETAC Level 5 Award in Sound Engineering & Production E20136
Progression
This award may be used in addition to other FETAC Level 5 awards to form a full Media Engineering Certificate. This in turn may be used to progress on to IT Colleges nationwide. Successful completion of this course will also facilitate entry to Level 6 and 7 courses in
related areas.

Learners gain extensive experience working with bands in the studio and in our live venue. They are provided with studio time for their own projects and are encouraged to develop an extensive portfolio for future employment.
